Langley Mill sits on the River Erewash, right on the Nottinghamshire border just past Heanor. We find ourselves back there again and again, mostly for full re-roofs where the old covering has reached the end of its life.
The old roof stripped back on a Langley Mill house
A full roof, start to finish
This Langley Mill house had its old roof stripped completely and replaced from start to finish. Under the new tiles there is a high-performance breathable membrane for long-term protection and ventilation, fixed on treated 25x50mm roofing battens.
The chimney repointed and re-flaunched in Langley Mill
A new roof and a rebuilt chimney top in four days
On another job we fitted a full new roof with treated 25x50 laths, a breathable membrane, eaves support trays and a dry hip and ridge system. While the scaffold was up we repointed the top four courses of the chimney and re-flaunched the top so it stays weather-tight. The whole job took four days.
Concrete tiles with traditional leadwork
A third Langley Mill roof went back on in large concrete tiles over new treated laths, membrane and eaves support trays, finished with dry verge caps, wet-bedded ridges and new cover flashing and leadwork where the roof meets the walls.
