Leicester is further from home than most of our work, about 24 miles south of our base in Ilkeston, but a major roofing contract in the city means our team is regularly on Leicester roofs alongside our Derbyshire jobs.
One of our Leicester jobs sat directly across the road from the first block of flats we re-roofed in the city. It was a full strip and re-roof with a new breathable membrane, 25x50 treated timber laths, new tiles, eaves support trays, dry ridge and dry verge systems, and new lead detailing around the soil pipes.
Another Leicester house got a complete new roof in Double Roman tiles, with the roofline renewed at the same time: new fascias and soffits, deep-flow guttering and new downpipes, so the whole front of the property looks fresh.
Not every job is a roof. On one Leicester flat we ground out the old, cracked mortar on the top half of the brickwork, cleaned the joints and repointed it in Type N mortar, for stronger joints and a much longer life for the walls.
